While teaching mathematics at Nova High, it became very clear that this generation of teenagers is hungry for open-minded conversation about the state of the world and current and historical events. They can sense that the standard narratives are limited hangouts, and they want a safe platform for exploring these often controversial topics.

Our job is not to instruct them what to think about these specific topics, but to present a broader picture that includes "underrepresented perspectives" in history, so them can form their own conclusions and truly engage in and practice critical thinking.

We owe it to them to provide opportunities for a more expansive education...  our future depends on it!

A Message from Simit Patel
Founder of Pallas Center

We're a provider of history, civics, and social studies curricula for K-12 students. The best way to get to know us is to sample our free offerings, and to read some of our historical free posts:

The one thing virtually all parents and educators agree on: today's kids will inherit a complex world that demands critical thinking, deep knowledge, and the courage to face uncomfortable truths.

We created Pallas to equip your child with exactly these skills.

Our approach is straightforward:

  • We don't shy away from the full story. While other curricula gloss over difficult topics or present sanitized versions of history, Pallas dives deep into what really happened, and connects it the world your student lives in and experiences. Critically, we take great care to do this in an age-appropriate way that respects your child's development and inspires them to be a part of the solution.

  • We prioritize strong literacy and communication skills. Each unit study comes with vocabulary terms, discussion questions, and writing assignments. We know that expanding vocabulary and practicing writing is critical to retaining and communicating the knowledge in the curriculum. We also know that strong communication skills will benefit students in every area of their lives.

  • Neither right nor left. People always inquire whether our curriculum is "right" or "left." The answer is neither: our commitment is only to finding the truth and communicating it as best we can. To wit, we have curriculum that many would perceive as "right" leaning, such as our unit study on COVID-19 which covers accounts of vaccine damage from COVID, as well as curriculum that might be regarded as "left" leaning, such as our unit study on the historical forces powering surveillance technology and their role in the Trump administration. For younger learners, we also have our unit studies on Halloween and Christmas, which are not really left or right, but do explore underreported, hidden truths that will help students connect their experiences of the holidays to history -- and inspire a love of learning in doing so.

We know the window for giving students a rigorous, honest education is short. Every year of watered-down curriculum is a year they won't get back.
